The centerpiece of our social services program is our food pantry and emergency food services, which are operated in accordance with the Greater Chicago Food Depository, the Chicago Hunger Federation and USDA guidelines. As U.S. Census data indicates, the demographics of our community continue to change. Our program expects to serve an increased number of families with school-age children living below the poverty level.
What We Do:
The food pantry is every Thursday in the Thiele Center from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. For more information, please call (773) 486-5901.
- Serve more than 400 families each month.
- Provide Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter food baskets to nearly 200 families. We partner with several of our sharing parishes to adopt families in need and also provide Christmas gifts for all family members.
- Collaborate with Presence Saint Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center to provide nutrition awareness, nutrition classes and health screenings focused on diabetes and obesity.
- Partner with our neighborhood Walgreens to provide vaccinations and checkups focused on blood pressure, body mass index, bone density, cholesterol, diabetes and foot health.
